Dynamic book. Perfect for a daily devotion.

I think this is an excellent book. I look forward to reading a couple of pages of this book each morning. "His Princess Warrior" is written in a two part format. The first page talks about one's position as a daughter of the King - hence the "Princess" part of the title. This is followed by a picture and a scripture verse connected to the message. The next page is a prayer that challenges or encourages one to go and do a specific task that God has designed for each of his children - hence the "Warrior" part. Again, this page is followed by a picture and relevant verse. I love the balance between knowing who we are and then going wherever God is sending us.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is serious about following Christ. Without the regular reminder of who our Father is and who we are, the task can become overwhelming. But, coupled with the knowledge of God's love for us we can attack the strongholds of the enemy that we encounter every day.

Encouraging, strengthening, God really uses this!

Wow...when I saw this in a brick and mortar store, my fiance said it was probably cheaper online, so we checked Amazon. Definitely less expensive! This book would have been worth the extra price though. The verses, letters, and prayers for each day really help and encourage me. God has used this book in my life. The devotions on faith, trust, strength, fear, love, and laying down the things you love, giving them back to God, to Whom they ultimately belong anyway, have really stepped on my toes and been used to convict and comfort me. Definitely worth every penny.

I highly recommend this book to any person studying or working in the childcare field. This book is fantastic it gives you an overall knowledge on each theorist to link your work to, it has quotes, and best of all I use it every single week when I link my Observations to theorist.

I recommend all of Christian Larson's books, first published early 20th century. This is one that I regard as an essential. It shows what a deeply insightful and intellectually capable man C. Larson was.
He writes.."Man is made for attainment and achievement; to ever become greater and greater than he is now - that is the purpose of his life; and to promote that purpose he must ever advance in the mastery of self."
Larson explains that we all have infinite possibility, and the power to master all forces, but before anyone can have that privilege without doing harm, one must have mastered one's thoughts and emotions. Then one is truly master, and is never moved by outer things, but is the mover.
Here in this book, Larson discusses how we are to develop and practice the inner forces and powers we have; what the proper use of willpower is, how our powers, mind, and conciousness can be made to work together for the attainment of true supremacy.

"To hold the mind and every part of the mind in this serene strong state, and to hold it there at all times, is a very high art, and is made posssible only through the training of the will to act upon the principle of the real will."

Thought provoking

As my title clearing indicates this book is making me take a step back/ timeout to take a look at what is going on around me and how my life in general is going. I'm on my second reading of it as a first reading of this book one cannot digest everything (if you are a beginner). It is clear and concise in its explanation but does repeat a little for your grasping of the concepts at different stages. A very good read!

A Concise Pentecostal Theology

Contained within this well organized volume is the core of Pentecostal theology and a must read for anyone who seeks to better understand pentecostalism. Each of the sixteen doctrines, supported sufficiently with scripture, is presented within a theological framework . An example of such a framework, for the doctrine The One True God, would be the classical arguements given since medieval days for the existence of God (chapter 2). A nice plus is found at the end of each chapter where the authors have provided study questions to help insure the reader's comprehension of the material. Menzies and Horton have created a work that serves two purposes: first, as a resource for general theological knowledge; and, second, as a specific doctrinal reference for the Assemblies of God. Thus "Bible Doctrines - A Pentecostal Perspective" is an excellent addition to the library of the serious Bible student.

Brief Introduction to the Assemblies of God Doctrines

The Assemblies of God is the world's largest classical Pentecostal denomination in the world with over 40 million members worldwide. It is also the largest missionary movement in history of humanity.
However, all of this has evolved from the Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths written in 1914 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This short volume covers those sixteen truths. Each truth is covered in only 4 to 5 pages. But don't let that stop you from reading this book for a brief introduction to the Pentecostal teachings.
Finally, one word about the "saint" and his comments about the Holy Ghost and the Assemblies of God. The Assemblies of God is not a holiness-Pentecostal movement but grew out of mainly ministers from the Baptist, Presbyterian, and Christian & Missionary Alliance churches. The Assemblies of God stance on entire sanctification is one of progressive sanctification from their Baptistic roots. In fact, the only real differences between Southern Baptist and the Assemblies of God is their view on Spirit-Baptism and eternal security. The Assemblies of God is Arminian in its theology but not Wesleyan in many other points of doctrine.

Useful for ministers and laypeople

There are not many books that I read and reread nor reread a third time. However, Bible Doctrines by William Menzies is one of those books. No, it's not necessarily because it contains a riveting story or dialogue. In fact, it can be somewhat theologically dense; but, the book is invaluable. I first read through this book in Bible college as a syllabus requirement. Okay. Fine. I'll read it. I read it through a second time as a prepared for my licensing in the Assemblies of God. I absorbed it more. I understood its importance. I recently completed my third reading as I prepare for ordination. And, honestly, it is exciting. Yes, it's theology and doctrine, but it's founded in Scripture. It offers a concise understanding of the Pentecostal experience.

Throughout the book, Menzies walks us through the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God and offers a more in-depth study as the chapter continues. By the end of the book, you will have a firmer understanding on theological topics such as the authoritative rule, the One True God, the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the fall of man, the salvation of man, the ordinances of the Church, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, sanctification, the Church and its mission, the ministry, divine healing, the blessed hope, the millennial reign of Christ, the final judgment, and the new heavens and the new earth. You might be exhausted just reading the list, and, yet, Menzies takes these theological issues and breaks them into chewable portions. At the conclusion of the book, a glossary and index are also provided for easier study. I can't recommend this book enough. If you are studying for the ministry, you have to get this. If you are a layperson searching out more information on the Pentecostal perspective, this is the book to pick up.

worst book ever

I hardly write reviews, in fact it is my first review on Amazon, but this book is so terrible that I felt it as a duty to write this review. This book literally seems to be making fun of the reader. No wonder book sample had nothing more than the table of contents. Was not able to find a decent book yet on ehache except the user guide so fell into this trap.
Do yourself a favor keep searching for a good book. Don't get tempted by the Table of contents as I did. All I found after that fancy table was bunch of xml pasted one after the other and references to the Teracotta user guide
Writer has no clue of what he is writing, in a few pages he covers configuration then events then spring! effective indeed!! nothing about internals no details. I feel like an idiot after buying this book, there is a reason why there are no page numbers on the table of contents. Absolute waste of money.

A must have in your toolbox

Awesome book. It helped me to easily understand caching and implement Ehcache in my project quickly! Which is exactly what I needed, without all the unnecessary and time consuming jargon. The code samples are very straight forward and follow standard implementation of project frameworks. I am working in a Spring + Hibernate project for my company, so the integration fits like a right-size glove.

Excellent Ehcache resource book

After going to the Ehcache documentation, I decided to purchase this book. Overall, I consider this book as a great resource for getting Ehcache up and running. This is not a theoretical book but rather a recipe list of common tasks, which was exactly what I needed. The source code is excellent and fully commented so you know exactly how it is done. The brief caching concept definition at the end of the book was very helpful to me since it helped me understand the mix of concepts that I encountered at Ehcache docs. If you are a newbie I definitely recommend this book as a complement of the Ehcache docs.

In the summer of 2014, the Rotherham sex abuse scandal sent shockwaves through the nation. A report revealed that, since the 1990s, up to 1,400 young girls in the town had been regularly abused by sex gangs, predominantly comprised of Pakistani men. As the media descended on the small Yorkshire town, Sarah Wilson watched with horror and relief as her voice was finally heard after years of abuse.

Sarah was just eleven years old when she was befriended by a group of older men. Bullied at school, naive and vulnerable, the gifts and attention they lavished on her were what she craved, she just wanted to belong. But soon she was hooked on alcohol and drugs, and then they owned her. She was just twelve years old when she was bundled into a car by a man in his thirties and forced to have sex with him. Soon, the gang were driving her to places where she was raped by scores of men.

Falling through the system, from social services to school, no-one was able to help her. She ‘escaped’ when she became too old for the men at nearly sixteen.

Finally a victim of the Rotherham scandal tells her story in the hope that other young girls will not fall prey to the same evil that she endured.

Sarah Wilson is 23 and lives in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, where she is helping to bring up her niece, Alesha, following her sister’s death. She has just given birth to her first child.

out of the darkness there is always a light.

Sometimes fact is more powerful than fiction. This book is proof of that and was one of the most powerfully emotional books I have ever read. For those of us that have escaped trauma and tragedy in our lives this is like an insight into the dark world that others have endured. It will take you into a place where fear rules, and that fear is directed at those who are most vulnerable in our society, children. You may not feel that this is a book you wish to read, well you should. Its not sensationalist its truth as told by someone who found herself in a world from which she could see no way out.
Sarah survived that place, she also survive3d a family tragedy that has as much place in this story as its main theme. She lost those magic years are such a short part of our lives, our teens, but she found a resilience that is beyond belief to struggle on with her life when she probably thought, 'whats the point'
I commend this book to everyone to read for its the story of many young girls who are constantly let down by those who are there to protect them. There but for, ....goes your daughter.

A shocking and harrowing read, I could not put this book down and read late into the night. It is so scary to see how these people operate right under society's nose. The lack of assistance by the police - here is SA it would even be worse - it would likely BE the police. The terror her mother went through. This young girl is a hero and her story should somehow be forced on the teenagers of today - maybe it would help open some of their eyes and if it stops one girl going down this route - it would be worthwhile. This book is worth a second read.
